How DSL Works

What is DSL?

DSL or Digital Subscriber Line is a high speed internet solution offered through standard telephone lines.  DSL uses previously run telephone wires and cable to provide high speed internet access to consumers all over the country.  DSL enables consumers to access the internet in a fraction of the time of standard dial-up service.

How does DSL work?

DSL  delivers high speed internet access through a standard telephone line.  The signal is sent from a central office and decoded by a DSL modem at the home.  The DSL signal does not tie up your phone line.  The modem decodes and differentiates between standard phone signals and DSL enabling you to surf and chat at the same time.  DSL installation is very minimal with little to no work required at most locations.

Why Choose DSL?

DSL is a reasonably priced high speed internet solution utilizing existing hardware from your local phone company.  DSL offers speeds of up to 9Mbps and cost about the same as dial-up service.  DSL service has over 27 million subscribers in the U.S. alone and is the largest provider of internet service in the world.
